OBSERVATIONS FROM THE MIDDLENOT YET FINAL. STILL WORTH A LOOK.
Beetlejuice taking a thoughtful pause with a paintbrush in a lavender studio filled with unfinished canvases.
FIG. 04 A perfectly respectable place to be: not quite there.
IN PRAISE OF THE UNFINISHED

Still in
the making.

The pencil marks.
The promising detour.
The moment before it clicks.

“Perfection is a lovely excuse to never invite anyone over.”
A note from Beetlejuice,
currently between masterpieces.

NOTES TO LEAVE ON THE DESK

Make the middle useful.

01

Name where
you are.

You do not need a grand conclusion to have something worth saying. A clear account of the current situation is a gift to whoever picks it up next. Start with what you know, and be honest about the rest.

02

Keep the
useful mess.

The first sketch. The failed experiment. The approach that almost worked. Leave enough context to make those fragments useful, without pretending that every mark on the page was part of the plan.

03

Leave a
next step.

What would you try next? What question remains? A good unfinished thought points somewhere. It makes a pause feel less like an ending and more like a place to begin again.
