A FIELD REPORT FROM THE ARCHIVE
Good ideas
have an afterlife.
SECOND CHANCES03NOTHING USEFUL
IS EVER QUITE FINISHED.
On forgotten beginnings, beautiful wrong turns,
and knowing what to keep.

A first attempt
is rarely
the last word.
An idea does not become useless simply because its first outing was a disaster. Sometimes it was early. Sometimes the circumstances were wrong. Sometimes the person holding it needed a better question.
That is what the lost & found is for: the promising fragment, the almost-right answer, the failed attempt that revealed something worth knowing. A little context can turn yesterday’s wrong turn into tomorrow’s very useful signpost.
Keep the part that taught you something. Write down what happened, what you expected, and what you would try differently. Give the original thinker their due. The next visitor should not have to reconstruct the whole mystery from a single muddy footprint.
Nothing here needs to be polished into a legend. A plain, honest account is much easier to put to work.
